Mats Hansson

Professor in Biomedical Ethics. Director for the Centre for Research Ethics & Bioethics at Uppsala University

Background

Mats Hansson has a background as a biologist specialized in biochemistry and molecular genetics. He received his doctorate in ethics at the Faculty of Theology in Uppsala in 1991, was a visiting scholar at the Hastings Center in New York and a period at Ersta Care Ethics Institute. He works at Uppsala University since 1996.

Together with Kathinka Evers, associate professor at the Centre for Research Ethics & Bioethics and Joanna Stjernschantz Forsberg, PhD student in the same group, he will examine various ethical issues involving biobank-related research with a focus on the interest of patients and healthy persons to new medical knowledge and protection of integrity.
